High school students and teachers from Marshall Is

High school students and teachers from Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau and Peru visited Science Tokyo on 14 Nov as part of SAKURA 🌸 Science High School Program organized by Japan Science and Technology (JST) 🇲🇭🇫🇲🇵🇼🇵🇪

We had eight very supportive & powerful💪Science Tokyo students from six countries🇯🇵🇵🇪🇮🇳🇮🇩🇹🇭🇺🇸who helped run the program!!

Morning session was moderated by Prof Nozaki (School of Engineering), with lecture from Associate Prof Yatsu (School of Science) on “Development of a Micro-Satellite for Ultraviolet Astronomy and Earth Observation”.

Afternoon session was held in one of our research center, Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI), had a lecture from Specially Appointed Associate Prof Smith on “Will we really be able to tell if there is life on an exoplanet”

It was nice to have you all at our campus💕

You can now enjoy 😊 “Fuyusakura 冬桜🌸”, literally means “winter sakura”, in between J2•J3 Building and B1•B2 Building at Suzukakedai Campus.

Wu, D3 student at Suzukakedai campus sent us these pictures with heart-warming message;

“Amidst the strong winter winds 💨, the resilient 冬桜blossoms remain in bloom. May you, like these blossoms, confidently showcase your own unique beauty to the world 🌎 “

A month ago, under the Fuyusakura trees, yellow flowers, Seitakaawadachisou 背高泡立草 (Solidago altissimo) were at full blossom🌼 .

This morning was the coldest of the season 🥶, slightly below 10 Celsius (50 Fahrenheit)…

The sky was stunning clear blue and pretty warm under the sun☀️

Walking down the campus, leaves of some gingko trees have already turned yellow, although the trees in front of Main Building are still very green - need to wait a couple more weeks to see the rows of golden ginkgo trees.
