Biography

Department of Computer Science
School of Computing
Student Ambassador from April 2022 to March 2024

Ayubowan! Greetings! My name is Mastiyage Don Sudeera Hasaranga Gunathilaka, a Sri Lankan student who is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Computing. My research interests are in quantum computing and artificial intelligence. I first came to Japan in 2015. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I joined the Aonishi Laboratory in 2020 as a master’s student at Tokyo Tech. I started studying the Japanese language when I was 11 years old from native Japanese teachers. That provided me with the exposure to the news about Japanese technologies, traditions, calligraphy etc., from a young age. After coming to Japan, I tried to explore the cities, tourist spots, nature etc., as much as I could in my free time. It has been a wonderful experience. As a student ambassador, I would like to share my experience in Japan and at Tokyo Tech, and hopefully encourage and help students around the world!
